The Pro Bono Publico

Hello all!

I’m Hannah Zia, Head Pro Bono Coordinator of the Cambridge University Law Society for the upcoming academic year 2024-25. This year, our team will focus on expanding and enriching pro bono opportunities for Cambridge students through brilliant initiatives with legal charities like Amicus, Citizens Advice and much more. We are also keen to bring in speakers with a range of expertise in different areas of the law, all grounded with firm practices in widening access to justice. Our first event coming up on the 6th November will cover Immigration and Asylum law in the UK with leading experts Grace Brown (Joint Head of Garden Court Chambers), Anthony Metzer KC and Tahlia Dwyer (legal officer for the UNHCR). Watch this space for more exciting events and opportunities to come. We would love to hear about your thoughts and efforts working for legal charities, in the community law sector, or on any other pro bono related field. Submissions for the pro bono blog will be received on a rolling basis, with a word count of no more than 1500 words. Please help us enliven this blog with your thoughts on access to justice in the legal profession, and we hope to see some of you throughout the year.

Yours faithfully,
Hannah Zia
