Memberships
The Memberships Department is responsible for ensuring that every student's experience with CULS begins smoothly and continues seamlessly throughout their time at Cambridge. From welcoming new members during Freshers' Week to administering membership benefits and responding to enquiries throughout the year, the department plays a central role in supporting the Society's day-to-day operations.
A key responsibility of the department is managing the CULS membership database. This includes processing new memberships, issuing membership cards, maintaining the Society's electoral roll, and ensuring members are promptly added to the CULS mailing list so they remain informed about the wide range of careers, advocacy, social, and academic opportunities available.
The department also works closely with local businesses and organisations to negotiate exclusive benefits for members. Alongside year-round discounts with established Cambridge businesses, we seek to provide additional "flash" offers and online discounts throughout the academic year, ensuring that CULS membership delivers value beyond the Society's events programme.
Accessibility remains a core priority. We are committed to ensuring that membership is affordable and accessible to as many students as possible through initiatives such as Access Memberships for Cambridge bursary holders and flexible one-year membership options, allowing every student to engage with the Society regardless of their circumstances.
Throughout the year, the department provides ongoing support to members, responding to enquiries and helping to resolve any issues relating to memberships quickly and efficiently. Whether you are joining CULS for the first time or renewing your membership, we look forward to welcoming you into the Society and supporting you throughout your time at Cambridge.

Publicity
The Publicity Department is the creative team behind CULS’s communications, helping to promote events and keep members engaged with the wide range of opportunities available throughout the academic year. From eye-catching Instagram posts to event recaps, we design and publish content across CULS’s social media platforms, helping to maximise
participation while maintaining a professional, recognisable (and, of course, very purple!) brand.
Our work supports every aspect of CULS. For careers events, including keynote speaker sessions, networking evenings, and careers panels with leading law firms, barristers’ chambers, judges, and academics, we create promotional materials that clearly communicate event details and encourage members to get involved. Afterwards, we produce recap stories and posts highlighting key takeaways and memorable moments, allowing those who could not attend to catch up while showcasing everything CULS has to offer. The department also publicises CULS’s advocacy initiatives, including university-wide mooting competitions and externally sponsored moots, through promotional graphics, registration
announcements, and competition updates. Working closely with CULS’s sponsors, we also design posts advertising exclusive opportunities for members, including flash discounts, career resources, workshops, and firm events.
Beyond event promotion, we collaborate with the Per Incuriam team to publicise each termly edition of Per Incuriam. From encouraging student submissions to promoting published articles, we help ensure that the journal reaches as wide an audience as possible while reflecting its professional standard.
More broadly, the Publicity Department is responsible for maintaining CULS’s visual identity and ensuring consistent, engaging communication across all platforms. Whether we are announcing a mooting competition, sharing a careers panel recap, or celebrating members’ achievements, our goal is simple: to make sure every member knows what CULS has to
offer and never misses an opportunity to get involved.
